SHAWNEE, OK – The Potawatomi Fire begin their road to a third straight TBL national championship this weekend. The Fire will face the Enid Outlaws is the Division Finals with the winner playing either the St. Louis Griffins or the Logansport Iron Horses in the Midwest Conference Finals.
The 19-1 Fire are looking to continue their historic run through The Basketball League this postseason. Last year, they became the first team to win two TBL titles, doing it in back-to-back seasons (2023 and 2024). The Fire also concluded last year’s season a perfect 28-0, capping off the first ever undefeated season in TBL.
The Fire have been dominant at times this season. The Fire started the year 6-0, with all of those wins coming by at least 34 points. After dropping their lone game of the season, a 118-121 loss to St. Louis, The Fire have since rattled off 13 consecutive wins. Overall, the Fire have won 12 games by at least 30 points.
The Fire enter the playoffs as the second highest scoring team (126.1 ppg) in TBL, trailing only the Great Falls Electric (131.5 ppg). The Fire also allowed the second fewest points in TBL (94.8 ppg against), trailing only the New York Phoenix (91.2 ppg against).
This year, the playoff field is deeper than ever with seven teams finishing with three losses or fewer. The Fire, thanks to their 19-1 regular season record, will have home court advantage throughout the playoffs. That could prove to the biggest factor in the playoffs as the Fire have won 46 consecutive games inside FireLake Arena in Shawnee.
