SHAWNEE, OK – The Potawatomi Fire extended their record home winning streak to an even 60 games on Saturday beating the CYM Leopards 151-104.
The win was the Fire’s 32nd consecutive victory, dating back to April 4th, 2022. The 151 points were also eighth most in Fire history and second most this season.
“We played really well tonight,” said Fire head coach Mark Dannhoff. “CYM came out with a lot of energy, and I thought we matched it early on. CYM made some tough shots, but we continued to apply pressure, and I think we eventually wore them down. I still want to see us make a high percentage of our free throws but, overall, I felt like we shot it really well and executed really well.”
Rebounding was key for the Fire on Saturday. The Fire grabbed 62 rebounds, including 21 on the offensive end leading to 33 second chance points.
“We did a great job attacking the glass,” said Dannhoff. “I really like the 21 offensive rebounds and 33 second chance points. That’s something we work on every day in practice, and we saw that effort pay off tonight.”
Individually, Chuck Guy led the Fire with a season-high 33 points. Guy also had seven assists, four steals, and two rebounds.
“During shootaround I could tell Chuck was locked in,” said Dannhoff. “I even had to ask him if he was alright. He said he was and I got this feeling he could have a big game tonight.”
Among the other starters Ricardo Artis II had arguably his best game of the season finishing with a season high 19 points, a season high eight rebounds, and three assists. Jay Hedgeman scored 14 points to go along with nine rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. K.D. Moore finished with 12 points, three rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
Off the bench, Cam Williams recorded his first double-double of his TBL career finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Williams also three assists and three blocks on the night. Isaiah Wade’s strong season continued as he scored 16 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and dished out six assists. Jahmal McMurray had 14 points to go along with a season high eight assists and T.J. Maston scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
