The Potawatomi Fire have re-signed two-time TBL MVP Daylon “Chuck” Guy for The Basketball League’s (TBL) 2026 season.

“Chuck is our leader and floor general,” said Fire head coach, and three-time TBL Coach of the Year, Mark Dannhoff. “As he goes, this team goes and I could not be more excited to have him back. Chuck is a phenomenal player that gives our team exactly what we need every time we step on the court. If we need scoring, he can provide that. If we need to spread the ball around, he will do that. If we need defense, he has proven to be a lockdown defender. Simply put, Chuck Guy is the best player in TBL and the epitome of leadership on and off the court.”

“I am very happy to have Chuck back in the fold this season,” said Fire general manager David Qualls. “He has proven himself to be the best player this league has ever seen and we are glad he continues to commit to building greatness here with the Fire. Beyond the court, Chuck is an outstanding person and family man who contributes to the Fire’s impact in the Shawnee community. We are excited to have him, and his family, back inside FireLake Arena this season.”

Guy, who won the TBL MVP award the last two seasons, has led the Fire to become the first team in TBL history to win three straight championships. Last season, Guy averaged a team high 22.0 points, 10.0 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and a career high 3.3 steal per game. Last year was his second season averaging double-digits in both points and assists. Furthermore, Guy’s 10.0 assists per game, 3.3 steals per game, and 92.5% free throw shooting were the best in TBL by a player that played at least 10 games.

In addition to his back-to-back TBL MVPs, Guy was named TBL’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2023, Co-Playoff MVP (alongside Deshawn Munson) in 2023, and a TBL All-Star in 2023 and 2024. Guy is also the first player in TBL history to score 3,000 career points and record 1,000 career assists.

Guy holds several team records including points in a game (55 on 5/4/24 vs Enid), assists in game (21 on 6/6/24 vs Texas), steals in a game (9 on 5/10/25 vs Enid), free throws made in a game (22 on 4/26/25 vs St. Louis), minutes played in a game (58:00 minutes on two occasions).

Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Guy previously played in TBL for the Dallas Skyline in 2020 and the Enid Outlaws in 2022 before initially signing with the Fire prior to the 2023 season. Guy played collegiately at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX.

The Fire will begin their 2026 TBL season on March 7th. Individual game tickets and season tickets will be on sale soon.
