SHAWNEE, OK – The Potawatomi Fire stayed undefeated on the year beating the Enid Outlaws 125-104 on Thursday night. The win was the Fire’s 31st consecutive win overall and their 59th straight win at home.
Despite the 21-point margin of victory, the Fire faced their toughest test of the season as Enid consistently hung with the Fire until late in the fourth quarter. The Fire, who led the entire game, only held a seven-point lead after three quarters. In the fourth, the Fire went on a 14-2 run to eventually break the game open and secure the victory.
“This was a tough game,” said Fire head coach Mark Dannhoff. “Enid is a really good team and they’ve been playing some really good basketball. They gave us all we could handle tonight and I’m just happy we were able to deal with adversity and respond when we needed to.”
Part of that adversity came in the second quarter when Fire guard K.D. Moore and Enid guard Rahkiem Peterson were handed flagrant fouls for fighting and ejected from the game. While Peterson clearly threw a punch toward Moore, it did not appear that Moore threw any sort of a punch.
Moore, who was a perfect 4-4 from the field at the time of his ejection, ended the night with 12 points, two rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a block. With Moore in the locker room the remainder of the game, the Fire needed to find other sources of offense, and they did.
Isaiah Wade led all scorers with 32 points and nine rebounds off the bench for the Fire. Wade also shot 70% from the field (12-17 FG). Jay Hedgeman also had a big night with 22 points, nine rebounds, and three steals. Willie Warren also scored 22 points while recording five assists, two rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. Jahmal McMurray scored 15 points on the night with 13 coming in the fourth quarter. McMurray also had four assists and a pair of rebounds. Ricardo Artis II finished with 13 points and six rebounds. Finally, Chuck Guy scored just 9 points but had 15 assists, seven rebounds, and three steals while playing all 48 minutes.

“We really needed guys to step up tonight,” said Dannhoff. “I thought Isaiah was great. When just moves on from each possession and focuses on the next one, he’s very good. Jay had another all-around good game tonight and Willie was really good for us as well. Chuck wasn’t scoring but he still found a way to impact the game. Everyone who got on the floor tonight contributed to this win.”
With the win, which was the Fire’s 18th straight over Enid, the Fire are now 10-0 on the season. Up next, the Fire will host the CYM Leopards this Saturday night, April 11th. Tipoff from FireLake Arena is set for 7 PM.
