SHAWNEE, OK – It was a record setting performance by the Potawatomi Fire on Friday as they crushed the Muskogee Sky Kings 165-110. The 165 points were the most points scored in a single game in Fire history and the 55-point margin of victory was the largest for the Fire this season.
“Our offense was really, really good tonight,” said Fire head coach Mark Dannhoff. “I thought we shared the ball well and did good job of getting to the rim. We also rebounded well and got plenty of second chance opportunities. We were good in all facets tonight.”
As a team, the Fire shot 60.2% from the field, 44.0% from three, and 77.4% from the free throw line. The Fire also scored 61 points on the fast break and had a season-high 94 points in the paint. The Fire’s 65 made field goals were also a team record and their 41 assists we the fourth most in team history.
Chuck Guy showed once again why he is a two-time TBL MVP, scoring a season-high 42 points, grabbing a season-high 11 rebounds, and dishing out a season-high 17 assists for his second triple-double of the season. Guy also had four steals on the night.
“I’ve said it a lot but Chuck always gives us exactly what we need and tonight that was a little bit of everything,” said Dannhoff. “He actually didn’t shoot the ball well to start the game, but he kept playing his game by getting other guys involved and playing good defense. Once his shot did start to fall, it seemed like he couldn’t miss. He was great tonight.”
K.D. Moore also scored a season-high on Friday, recording 34 points while grabbing six rebounds. Jay Hedgeman had 17 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks. Ricardo Artis II scored seven points for the Fire but led the team with a season-high 12 rebounds.
Off the bench, Jahmal McMurray scored 23 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished out seven assists. Isaiah Wade continued his push for 6th Man of the Year finishing with 16 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Cam Williams also filled up the stat sheet with 13 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Finally, Johnny McCants scored five points on the night but grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds and blocked a season-high four shots.
