The Potawatomi Fire are excited to announce the re-signing of the reigning TBL MVP, Daylon “Chuck” Guy for the upcoming 2025 TBL season.
Guy, a 6-foot guard from Ft. Worth Texas, is arguably the best player in The Basketball League. Along with winning the 2024 TBL MVP award, Guy was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2023, Co-Playoff MVP in 2023, and has been a TBL all-star the past two seasons. Guy has also been named to the All-TBL First Team four times (2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024) in his career.
“We are excited to have our leader and MVP back,” said Fire General Manager David Qualls. “Chuck is the consummate professional and leads by example on and off the court. Not only is Chuck a great player but he is a great man and embodies the Potawatomi Fire culture. He is one of the cornerstone pieces of this team.”
“I am thrilled to have our point guard back,” said Fire head coach, and two-time TBL Coach of the Year, Mark Dannhoff. “Chuck does what we need him to do on any given night for us to win. He has proven himself to be the best player in TBL with his all-around game and his leadership ability. It’s a pleasure to coach him every day because I know he will give 100% and pushes his teammates to do the same.”
Last year, on his way to winning his first MVP award, Guy averaged 22.7 points, a TBL-high 10.7 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game. Guy also recorded one triple-double, 14 double-doubles, and played all 48 minutes in a game 10 times.
Over the course of the Fire’s undefeated 2024 season, Guy became the first player in TBL history to reach 2,000 career points. He currently sits just 14 assists away from being the first player in TBL history to reach 1,000 career assists.
Guy holds several team records including points in a game (55 on 5/4/24 vs Enid), assists in game (21 on 6/6/24 vs Texas), steals in a game (7 on 3/11/23 vs Little Rock), and minutes played in a game (58:00 on 4/30/23 vs Wichita).
The Fire will begin their 2025 TBL season in late February or early March. Individual game tickets and season tickets will be on sale soon.
