SHAWNEE, OK – The Potawatomi Fire won a thrilling Game 1 in the West Regional Finals over the 4 Bears Roar Thursday night.
The Fire started the game on a 6-0 run before the Roar answered with a 7-0 run. Following that, the two teams traded leads before the Fire ultimately took a three-point lead (52-49) into halftime.
“4 Bears are a very good team and they showed it tonight,” said Fire head coach Mark Dannhoff. “I was proud of the way our guys fought. The Roar did a good job of getting us out of rhythm in the first half, but we were able to adjust and showed our championship mentality.”
Jahmal McMurray led the Fire with 26 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for his first double-double of the season. Isaiah Wade recorded his eight double-double off the bench this season finishing with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
“Our bench was huge tonight,” said Dannhoff. “We wanted to build a deep bench this offseason, and you saw that tonight. When we can bring guys like Jahmal and Isaiah off the bench, it allows us to really keep the pressure on opposing teams.”
K.D. Moore finished with 21 points and four rebounds. Chuck Guy recording his 10th double-double finishing with 13 points, 13 assists, and six rebounds. Ricardo Artis II finished with 16 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Willie Warren finished with 13 points, three rebounds, and four assists.
