SHAWNEE, OKLA — The Shawnee Fire captured the inaugural FireLake Arena Fall Shootout, with a thrilling 73-72 win over OMC. Former OU Sooner Je’lon Hornbeak hit a three-pointer with 25 seconds left to give the Fire the lead over OMC as the Fire rallied from down 23 points in the second half to claim the $7500 first-place prize.
Tevin Foster led the Fire with 16 points including several big treys down the stretch. Foster was 4 of 6 from outside overall. Hornbeak had 13 points including two triples while Deshawn Munson had 12 points and 8 assists. Deon Lyle had eight points while Paul Harrison also added eight points and seven rebounds. Chuck Guy and T.J. Maston each had six points. The Shawnee Fire were composed of past and potential future TBL Potawatomi Fire players.
Craig Foster (brother of the Fire’s Tevin Foster) led the Oklahoma City-based OMC squad with 17 points. OMC started hot and carried a 13-point lead into halftime. Their lead was extended to over 20 points in the third quarter before the Fire began their climb back. OMC led 60-44 after three frames before the Fire closed with a fury, outscoring their opponents 29-12 in the final period.
OMC earned $1500 for their second place finish while New Era took third place and $1000 in the weekend tournament.
