SHAWNEE, OK – The Potawatomi Fire record book was rewritten on Mother’s Day as the Fire beat the Dallas Stampede 191-85.
The Fire set team records for points (191), margin of victory (106), assists (57), steals (28), field goals made (72), and field goal percentage (66.1%). The win was also the Fire’s 37th straight win, setting a new TBL record for most consecutive victories. The win also extended the Fire’s TBL record home win streak to 62 straight wins.
“Obviously the numbers are amazing,” said Fire head coach Mark Dannhoff. “But what I was most impressed with was the focus the guys had today. They came in and were ready to play from the opening tip. Everyone executed at a high level and I’m just very proud of this team.”
Fire guard Chuck Guy also set a few of records tonight. Guy finished with 33 points, 15 rebounds, 39 assists, and 10 steals. It was the first quadruple-double in Fire history. The 39 assists are not only a team record, but they are also believed to be a TBL record. The 10 steals were also a Fire record. On top of those numbers, Guy also shot 73.3% from the field (11-15).
“Chuck has done amazing things in his career, but this is the best game I’ve seen him play,” said Dannhoff. “He was doing whatever he wanted tonight and the numbers proved it. But Chuck will be the first to tell you, the other guys have to step up tonight and they did that. K.D. played well all game. Ricky brought the energy early. Willie came out strong. Jahmal and Isaiah played well off the bench. While Chuck will get the attention, and rightfully so, he couldn’t have put up those numbers without the other guys around him.”
K.D. Moore led the Fire in scoring with 40 points. He also had four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Jahmal McMurray led all bench scorers with 26 points on 8-12 shooting from the field, including hitting 6-10 three-pointers. McMurray also had four rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
Isaiah Wade continued his push for 6th Man of the Year with 22 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
Ricardo Artis II finished with 20 points and four rebounds. Willie Warren also scored 20 points to go along with four steals. Jay Hedgeman scored 12 points on the night to go along with seven rebounds.
