The Potawatomi Fire are excited to announce the signing of Jevonlean “Jay” Hedgeman for the upcoming 2025 season in The Basketball League (TBL).
Hedgeman, a 6-7 forward originally from Pearland, Texas, is a no stranger to the TBL. He previously played for the Shreveport Mavericks in 2023 and the Houston Push in 2021.
“We are happy to welcome Jay to the Fire,” said Fire General Manager David Qualls. “Jay is a very good player that always seemed to impress whenever we faced him. I am confident he will not only help us win a lot of games this year, but I know he will become a fan favorite with his style of play. We believe Jay can be a critical player for us this season.”
“I’m excited to work with Jevonlean,” said Fire head coach, and two-time TBL Coach of the Year, Mark Dannhoff. “He is a versatile player that will be able to fill several different roles for us. He was always a tough matchup to coach against and I’m glad he’s with us.”
In 2023, as a member of the Shreveport Mavericks, Hedgeman averaged 13.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 2.0 steals over 21 games. Hedgeman shot 55.5% from the field, hit 36.1% of his three-point attempts, and shot 70.3% from the free throw line.
Prior to playing in TBL, Hedgeman has played professionally across the globe, including: Al Nasr (Kuwait) in 2021 and 2023, Piratas de Bogota (Colombia) in 2022, Cerveceros de Meoqui (Mexico) in 2020, Petroleros Camarco (Mexico) in 2019, Regatas Corrientes (Argentina) in 2018-2019, and Aguilas Doradas de Durango (Mexico) in 2017-2018.
The Fire will begin their 2025 TBL season in late February or early March. Individual game tickets and season tickets will be on sale soon.
