Fire 141, 7ers 119

SHAWNEE, OK – The Potawatomi Fire remained perfect beating the Texas 7ers 141-119 on Saturday night inside FireLake Arena.

The Fire got off to a strong start, scoring the first five points of the game before the 7ers got on the board. The Fire led 39-23 after the first quarter and never looked back as they led wire to wire for the first time this season.

It was a true team effort in the win with all 12 players scoring and seven of the 12 finishing in double figures. It was nearly a record-setting night for the Fire as the 141 points were the fifth most in team history. The 55 made field goals tied for third highest while 59.1% shooting from the field were also the fifth highest in Fire history.

“I was really pleased with the way we played,” said Fire head coach Mark Dannhoff. “It was great to get everyone involved. I think we are playing really good basketball, but I am glad we get to have this break before a tough stretch coming out of the All-Star break.”

Chuck Guy again led the Fire with 27 points, eight assists, five rebounds, and a pair of steals. Guy is now 65 points away from 2,000 career points in TBL. Before the game, Guy was named to the 2024 TBL All-Star game. It is the second consecutive All-Star appearance for Guy, who has cemented himself as arguably the best player in TBL.

K.D. Moore had another strong game with 24 points and six rebounds. Deshawn Munson finished 18 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, a steal, and a block. It was the third straight double-double for Munson. Other players finishing in double figures included Jachai Simmons (16 pts), Ruston Hayward (13 pts), Ricardo Artis II (10 pts), and Darius Roy (10 pts).

Sean Gardner and Chase Cobb were the only players for the 7ers to find the bottom of the net consistently. Gardner finished with a team 27 points and seven assists while Cobb finished with 25 points and three rebounds. The loss dropped the 7ers to 2-3 on the year.
