ENID, OK – A big second quarter propelled the Potawatomi Fire to their 35th consecutive win on Sunday afternoon. The 35 straight wins is one shy of the TBL record of 36 consecutive victories, a record held by the Fire.

Up 25-20 at the start of the second quarter, the Fire outscored the Enid Outlaws 45-19 in the second quarter to take a 70-39 lead into halftime. From there, the Fire were able to cruise to the 125-99 victory.

“Enid is a very good basketball team, and they played really hard tonight,” said Fire head coach Mark Dannhoff. “I thought our guys did a good job dealing with adversity early on and then finding that next level in the second quarter.”

With just nine players on the active roster, the Fire needed contributions from everyone.

“Every one of our guys had a role in tonight’s win,” said Dannhoff. “When your shorthanded other guys have to step and contribute in different ways than they normally would. I thought that happened tonight. Willie (Warren) playing over 43 minutes was huge. Ricky (Artis II) scoring like he did in the first half really propelled us. Then Isaiah (Wade) and Jay (Hedgeman) having to play an incredibly physical game down low really set the tone for our team on both ends of the floor.”

Three players finished with double-doubles for the Fire. Isaiah Wade finished with 23 points and 15 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. Chuck Guy finished with 17 points, 10 assists, five rebounds, and three assists for his sixth double-double of the year. Jay Hedgeman recorded his first double-double of the season with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

K.D. Moore led the Fire in scoring with 26 points. Moore also had three rebounds and two assists. Ricardo Artis II finished with 25 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Willie Warren finished with 11 points, nine assists, six rebounds, and four steals.

With the win, the Fire are now 14-0 on the year. Up next, the Fire will visit the ADS Sentinels next Friday, May 1st. That game will take place at Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 PM.
