SHAWNEE, OK – The Potawatomi Fire won their 10th consecutive game on Saturday as they defeated the Enid Outlaws 125-111. The win was the 46th consecutive win at home for the Fire.
This was not the cleanest of wins for the Fire as they struggled to find their rhythm throughout the game but the Fire fought through those tough stretches and were able to win their 13th straight over Enid.
“It wasn’t an easy win tonight,” said Fire head coach Mark Dannhoff. “First off, Enid is good team with a bunch of really good players. It’s also never easy to play back-to-back nights. We’ve done that a lot lately and it’s tough, but it is something we know we might encounter in the playoffs. Finally, it also hard to beat the same team this many times throughout the season. They know what we are going to do, and we know what they will do. There are no surprises. It wasn’t easy tonight, but we were able to fight and get the win.”
In need of a spark following the slow start, Fire point guard, and reigning TBL MVP, Chuck Guy stepped up and got the Fire on the right track. Guy had one of his most complete performances of the season finishing with 29 points, 4 rebounds, 13 assists, and a team record 9 steals.
“Chuck was fantastic tonight,” said Dannhoff. “As I’ve said before, he’s going to give us whatever we need on any given night. Tonight, we really needed his scoring and his defense. He still got hit assists, but his scoring and defense tonight were huge for us.”
Off the bench, Ke’Tarrious “K.T.” Bouchum had another big game with 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals. Isaiah Wade also recorded his second straight double-double finishing with 16 points and 11 rebound.
“Both of those guys were big for us tonight,” said Dannhoff. “K.T. made some tough shots and helped spark our offense while Isaiah came in and was force inside. I have a ton of faith in all the guys on our roster and those two came off the bench tonight helped us win.”
Four other Fire players finished with at least 11 points. Paul Harrison finished with 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. Deshawn Munson finished with 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists. Jachai Simmons finished with 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. Finally, off the bench, Jay Hedgeman finished with 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals.
