SHAWNEE, OK – The Potawatomi Fire cruised past the San Antonio Clutch 138-81 on Friday night. The win clinched the Central Conference title for the Fire for the third consecutive year and was the Fire’s 44thconsecutive win inside FireLake Arena.

“When we start the year, we talk about taking things step by step and winning the conference is an important step,” said Fire head coach Mark Dannhoff. “Winning the conference for the third straight year is a testament to the work we have put in and the bond these guys have built. While we don’t try to put added importance on individual games, winning the conference is a big deal and it’s something these guys should be proud of.”

The Fire put on another fantastic display on the defensive end holding San Antonio to just 81 points on 36.7% shooting from the field and just 22.2% from behind the three-point line. The Fire also forced San Antonio into 17 turnovers which led to 25 points for the Fire.

“I thought we were really good on defense tonight,” said Dannhoff. “We did a good job of challenging shots and keeping San Antonio off the glass. I was happy with what I saw on defense.”

Offensively, it was another balanced effort for the Fire as seven players reached double-figures in points and all 10 players scored. Chuck Guy led the Fire with 26 points, 2 rebounds, and 10 assists. Guy also had a block and a steal. This was Guy’s fifth double-double of the season. Ricardo Artis II recorded his third double-double of the season, finishing with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Rounding out the starter’s efforts, Paul Harrison finished with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, a block, and a steal. Deshawn Munson finished with 10 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.

Off the bench, Isaiah Wade had one of his best games of the season finishing with 25 points and 8 rebounds. Kam Williams also had great game off the bench scoring 21 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, dishing out 2 assists, stealing two passes, and blocking a shot. Finally, Jay Hedgeman finished with 12 points and 9 rebounds.

With the win, the Fire improved to 14-1 on the year while San Antonio fell to 0-13. The win also clinched the season sweep over San Antonio this season, winning the series 4-0.

Up next, the Fire will host the Little Rock Lightning on Friday, May 9th. A win would also be the Fire’s 45thstraight win inside FireLake Arena.
